JPC Engineering Gets Rid Of The Guess Work
Boiler tube maintenance is at all times critical. This is particularly the case when power stations are concerned, with unscheduled shutdowns often proving very costly.Acknowledging that consistent and effective data collection is the critical factor in improving boiler tube management systems, JPC established a 3D model to graphically track the sections, elements and tubes of the Millmerran Power Station in South West Queensland.
These tools enabled the Station to easily and accurately document all inspections executed, the repair history and repair instructions.
JPC’s 3D model and drawing system has since solved many issues, but the huge volume of data now being produced still requires swift and accurate reporting.
Building on from this, JPC is now working with their UK based partners to design software that will manage all of Millmerran’s boiler inspection and repair data. Once fully operational, this system will help plan future work, define wear rates of components and indicate the true cost of a shutdown. Most importantly, it will greatly reduce the probability of an unanticipated shutdown and ensuing issues.
